1. A Letter from our President
Dear EUROTAS members, dear friends,
Some time ago Ingrida and I sat in a Coffee-shop in Riga and had been discussing the essentials of this year’s EUROTAS conference: Creativity and Spirituality. We found out that Transpersonal Psychology houses a lot of understandings what the transpersonal means, what spirituality is about. There is the personal and the transpersonal, the understanding of relatedness and the “knowing field”, there are ghosts and protection techniques, there are different states of the divine, shamanic journeys, enhanced states of consciousness – supporting to heal personal and collective wounds. All spiritual techniques and traditions are reaching out for healing the human wound of imperfectness, overcoming anxiety and the suffering of the world and realizing humans’ very essence which is the creative impulse to love. The very essence of human’s spirituality in its core is not understandable, lies beyond theories, beyond words. The very essence of the heart cannot be described, it only can be realized. And creativity, creative arts are the excellent tool to perfectly express which is not describable. Ingrida and her team have a long-standing experience dealing with supporting and provoking the creative impulse. In the past, they had been organizing several international events realizing art, and art-psychotherapy, events which aimed to evolve the creative, spiritual impulse. The idea of this conference will be of active, creative participation. It will support the understanding of creativity and the spiritual impulse, and it will support the limits of understanding by engaged action, creative participation. So please come, join us at this conference, fanning the flame of the creative, spiritual impulse in EUROTAS.
Ingo B. Jahrsetz

7. Beyond the Mind a new book by Pier Luigi Lattuada
Transpersonal psychology is characterised as a contribution given by scientific research to the study and comprehension of inner experiences of the transcendental type.
Transpersonal psychology seems to characterise itself as a wide thought and research movement, working towards an integration of psychological principles and methods with spiritual practices or shamanic rituals, in order to synthesise mind, meditation, spirituality and transcendence, the ordinary consciousness and extraordinary one, mystic ecstasy or shamanic experiences.
Transpersonal psychology works for the realisation of the self, the awakening of the spiritual nature in each individual, and of one’s most genuine human qualities. It seems that the word ‘transpersonal’ applied in psychology, was first used by Roberto Assagioli, the father of “Psychosynthesis,” and then by C.G. Jung. It refers to the areas of the psyche that go beyond the identification with individual personality. Transpersonal psychology thereby refers to the particular approach that studies and develops spirituality and spiritual experiences in a psychological context.
This approach began to assert itself in the field of psychology in the 1960s, moving from the works of A. Maslow, who first put emphasis on an “evolutive” psychology that would take into account the “development of potentialities,” the “gradual needs satisfaction,” the “relationship between persons” involved in the therapeutic setting, and the “mystical experiences” as basics in a self realisation process.
In this book we can find a review of the main theoretical and practical transpersonal models and a contribution by internationally well-know authors like: Stanislav Grof, Laura Boggio Gilot, Massimo Rosselli, Eliezer Cerqueira Mendes.

8. The Shamanic Way
The ancient shamanic cultures honored Nature and were speaking to It in the hope of finding an equilibrium linked with a universal coherence. A profound communion with Nature, trance, the journey within other dimensions, the dialogue with the invisible are generally part of these customs.
The shamanic path is the earth's spirituality, a return to nature so that it takes care of our illnesses, our follies and shows us the path towards the conscious being. Learn to communicate with nature, to see and hear becomes a psychology of nature, a reconnection to the most profound life forces and a return to the essence and the essential. Trance within dance becomes both mentor and guide, it is the rhythm which creates the drive and leads to the revelation. Nature opens the door to the invisible world and realigns Man with his own values..
With many blessings
Béatrice Thibault
9. News from Contemplative Fire
Dear Contemplative Fire friend
This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Quiet Garden Movement which I had the privilege of initiating and which is a sister project of Contemplative Fire. A number of our Contemplative Fire Companions are involved in the Quiet Garden in different areas. This simple ministry of hospitality and prayer can be a lovely way of engaging with different aspects of our trefoil and rhythm of life.
A week or so ago, the Church Times printed an excellent three page article by Jamie Cable on the vision and work of The Quiet Garden Movement and, for your interest and your own networking of this resource, I attach it now.
For further details of the birthday celebrations on 28 April at Worth Abbey and of the Movement itself, please log on to www.quietgarden.org should you have received this already, please forgive duplication.
Warmly

Peter Senge, Barrett C Brown, Anders Wijkman, Johan Rockström, Kajsa Balkfors, Alain de Vulpian, Tor Eneroth, Katarina Chowra, Göran Gennvi, and more will be there to share and inspire. Welcome to Stockholm and The SoL European Forum May 21st - 23rd 2012 - to explore the TRANSFORMATION OF VALUES AND ORGANIZATIONS IN A NEW REALITY! The toxic influence of our collapsing economic system is being felt across business, the environment and our society. A more human-centred capitalism is emerging to replace it, driven not from above, but by people from all levels and sectors - How can we contribute to the systemic change going on in organizations, business and society at large (economy, ecology, politics?)? - Is there a need for a new generation of leadership? - How can we, as a SoL community, engage our collective intelligence to address today's challenging issues? SoL Sweden, on behalf of The Society for Organizational Learning is delighted to invite you to participate in this SoL European Forum in the beautiful surroundings of Stockholm, in order to explore the shift taking place in Europe now in cultural, ecological and economic fields and its challenge for our corporations and societies. We strongly believe that you are part of the next generation of leadership and welcome you to explore and co-create the new reality at The SoL European Forum 2012 from a perspective of Organizational Learning and Systemic change! The Forum is open to everyone, SoL members (at a reduced cost) and non-members. Welcome to contact Elisabeth Nyberg/Christer Evans (info@solsweden.org) for further questions!

SESAME RESEARCH EVENING
Explorations Across the Pond
An evening of Play, Research and Discussion with David Read Johnson (Ph.D)
- What are the connections between the seemingly different approaches to dramatherapy of Sesame and Developmental Transformations (DvT)?
- What unites Sesame’s oblique, non-verbal and non-interpretative approach, with its emphasis on myth and ancient stories, with the seemingly direct and verbal encounters in DvT, where interpretations abound in ‘the now’ of the existential moment?
- May such differences be based partly on geographical factors i.e a more traditional/historical British approach which values archetypes and myth versus the more contemporary, brash and provocative world of American improvisation?
During this evening we will be exploring, playing with and researching the myths and realities of two important approaches to dramatherapy: Sesame and DvT. DvT uses improvisational play, in which the therapist and client(s) enter into continuous transformations of embodied encounters in a playspace (a mutual agreement of the pretend nature of their interaction). Play, within DvT, helps to loosen or deconstruct unhelpful structures/blockages to Being, that is to playing with depth and intimacy.
David Read Johnson (founder of DvT) has shared a warm relationship with Marian Lindkvist (founder of Sesame) over the last 28 years. David will share his reflections on the deep connections that exist between the two approaches and lead us in an experiential session to illustrate these links. He will also address avenues for research in both approaches. Members of the U.K. DvT Advanced Practice Group will also be available (some of whom are Sesame trained dramatherapists) to provide reflections on their experiences in DvT. Details will also be provided of furthering practice and training in DvT (in the UK).
As the focus of the evening will be primarily an exploration of the historical, philosophical and methodological similarities and differences between Sesame and DvT, it may be of particular interest to Sesame trained dramatherapists.
David Read Johnson is Director of the Arts in Psychotherapy, New York, Co-Director of the Post Traumatic Stress Centre, New Haven, Connecticut and Associate Clinical Professor of the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. He was a founding member and past President of the National Association for Drama Therapy (US)
13. News from Findhorn

During this time of rapidly evolving consciousness there are several opportunities for meeting with others towards holding a higher aspiration and a common vision for humanity. The purpose of this email is to bring to your attention a forthcoming gathering “Into Christ Consciousness” which is a collaborative endeavour being held at the Findhorn Foundation, 7th -11th April 2012. You may already know about this, in which case the attached flier (CCflier4web) gives details in a way that you might easily network on to others. Just spreading the word that this is happening can itself create further energetic resonance, so we will be grateful if you can find time to do this.
Matthew Fox, ground breaking author of ‘Original Blessing’, ‘The Coming of the Cosmic Christ’ and founder of Creation-Centered Spirituality, has recently asked to join us. The other attachment (M.Foxprepub.pdf) relates to a public talk he will be giving suggesting that our collective emergence at this time into “Christ Consciousness” is an essential step for the survival of humanity. He will be with us for the final two days. We are also attaching a flier (MatthewFox2012tour.doc) that gives details of other talks etc that have been arranged with associate organisations of the Wrekin Forum in different parts of the country.
Across the world there are ‘portal groups’ working with this theme and David Spangler – who contributed some of the founding impulses of the Findhorn Foundation - gave an inspiring talk recently on Christ Consciousness which you can access on http://lorianpress.com/christ.htm and also on http://intocc.net/home/htm
This is an invitation to consider connecting with us in whatever way feels right for you.
With many blessings, Janice Dolley
